Day Two: The competition hots up (Or everything just makes me hot)

The day was supposed to have started at 8am for some of the teams but lo and behold it was raining and quite heavily. Junko was up at the crack of dawn and ready for the competition by 6am. However, as it was raining heavily, many just turned around and went back to bed. Anyway 10 am came and the tennis team all eventually piled into cars to head down to the centre. The rain by this time wasn't as heavy. Competition had to go ahead as the games were only on for another two days so the format of the tennis matches were reduced to first to reach 9.

Matches were first played in damp and drizzly conditions in the morning. By the time the afternoon came, it was hot and sunny and matches continued as usual. The Auckland mens A team got through to the semis and reached the finals with some spectacular play by Anthony and Johnny, Auckland C team lost close matches to Victoria B team to be edged out of the main draw. The Auckland B Mens teams contested close matches to reach the plate finals. The Auckland womens A team juggernaut continued to march on barely breaking a sweat apart from Junko's closely contested 7-9 loss to the Victoria womens team number 1. Anyway, after the days triumphant day with only the Auckland women's B team finishing their matches for the tournament (we need more party time, too much tennis cuts into our party time).

Tonight, the University of Auckland contingent provided a classy dinner for the whole Auckland contingent. The tennis team was scheduled to eat at 7pm at a classy dinner at one of the cities top budget motels. It had started to drizzle, so a decision was made to drive to the motel (we might get wet!). Driving the whole 1 minute to the site of our dinner, everyone piled out of the cars to enjoy a well earned dinner. We were treated to the finest dining cafeteria style at one of the most exclusive motels in Hamilton. The sophisticated menu consisted of unidentifiable pasta dish ("I think its pasta"), peas and carrots, reconstituted mash potatoes (just like the real thing), and coleslaw ("don't think just eat"), topping off the dessert with fruit mash and your choice of yellow or brown sludge ("I think its chocolate"). On top of that, the entire team were allowed to take home souvenirs of the cutlery and plates we used (wow, these forks will complete my plastic cutlery collection). Some of the comments for our gourmet food for the night included "is this it? Where's the rest of it?", "It kinda tastes like chicken, it COULD be chicken", "do we HAVE to come back tomorrow???"

After dinner it was voted to go to the theatresports competition and support the Auckland team. The journey in search of the theatresports competition was led by Marcus "no wait, that was in Dunedin" Ho. After several detours, we found Hillcrest high school where the theatresport competition was being held. After a few more hours of wondering around, we finally found the performance hall where the competition was being held. The gang thoroughly enjoyed the biased judges but eventually the Auckland team got through to the finals. The hilarious after dinner entertainment continued when we got back to the athlete's village where we set up party central. Tim "karaoke machine" Larsen got out his trusty guitar and strum a few tunes for the gang including such hits from red hot chilli peppers, Cranberries, The Exponents and other great singing favourites. Best singers would have to be Claire "no i didn't get two hoodies!" Paterson, Hayden "nice jugs" Clarke, Sinead "stealthy stalker " Sinnot and Julia "Fraser's here!" Crockett.

The nights entertainment didn't end there as suitably sloshed, the gang decided to go and spend another fun time in town. But where was Alaric "let's have some team-bonding" Nicholls, our fearless leader? There were rumours around the tennis camp that Al had disappeared with our beautiful pom pom femme fatale. Eyewitness accounts stated "he's in his room, he's locked us out! He's naked!!!". Following on this hunch, our erstwhile gang crept up to 'love central' to investigate these wild rumours about our upstanding leader. Stories emerged from those brave enough to investigate: Despite the fact that the curtains had been hurriedly drawn, both furniture, members of next doors female (and male - come on, I need some ass too) hockey team and various sexual aids had been flung every which way. Glimpses of flesh and frilly undergarments could be seen and it is even rumoured that someone was watching the orgasm scene in when Harry met Sally (at 1 o'clock in the morning! and no it wasn't Johnny "the porn king" Tang)!
