Frequently Asked Questions How much does it cost to join the club? Is it too late to join this year? Who can I contact for more information about the club? What competitions can I enter with the club? Club times till the end of semester are: Wednesdays: 12:30 pm to 2:30pm Fridays: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm In the event of rain, indoor courts are unavailable on Wednesdays in Semester 1. However, one or two courts may be available on Fridays. How much does it cost to join the club? Membership $40 / year Beginner's and Advanced coaching is available at heavily subsidised rates for club members, on Wednesdays and Fridays, during club times. Bring a racket if you have one. The club has a limited number of racket available for those who do not have their own yet. Wear non marking soled shoes. We provide tennis balls. Is it too late to join this year? It is never too late to join the club! You can join at any stage during the academic year. My classes are at the same times as club times, but I would still like to play tennis. What can I do? You can play tennis at the ASB Tennis Centre, 72 Stanley Street at a cost of $5 per person (student rate.) Monday through Friday. You can also play there over the weekend, but full rates apply. Indoor courts are also available, but at a substantially higher rate. You can also get in touch with our club and let us know what days and times suit you best so we can try and accommodate you next semester. The club hires courts at the ASB Tennis Centre, 72 Stanley Street, Auckland Central. All snail mail is delivered c/o AUSA. Who can I contact for more information about the club? Get in touch with any of the committee members, who will be happy to assist you with any inquiries.
What competitions can I enter with the club? University Games is held every year at a different university around the country. Bartercard Indoor Doubles is played every year beginning in late May. Club Championships is held annually in August. Battle of the Bombays is an annual sports competition vs. Waikato University, held in September. In the event of rain, keep an eye on the club messageboard. About an hour before we are due to start, a message will be posted indicating whether we have indoor courts or not. |
